Dr. Rourke is the Director of two national centers funded by CIHR: Community-Based Research Collaborative Centre and CIHR Centre for REACH in HIV/AIDS. Additionally, he is a Scientist and Neuropsychologist at St. Michael’s Hospital, as well as a professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the University of Windsor.
Dr. Rourke completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Psychology at the University of Windsor. Following, he earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of California. He is a licensed psychologies certified by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
For his work, he has received honors and career awards including: the Robert Carr Research Award, four Fellowship awards from numerous associations, the Glen Hillson Award, the Ontario AIDS Network Honour Role, and the Henry Durost Award for Excellence in Creative Professional Activity at the University of Toronto.
His main research interests are the neurobehavioral complications of HIV, HIV stigma, health problems for HIV-infected populations, and HIV and aging.
