Dr. Alexander Wong is an infectious diseases physician with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and an assistant professor with the University of Saskatchewan.
He completed his bachelor’s degree with honours in science at the University of Toronto. He then earned his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario and followed with an internal medicine residency and an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Alberta.
Dr. Wong’s research interests include HIV medicine, viral hepatitis, and all aspects of infectious diseases. He is serving as a co-investigator for CTN 286, a study aiming to determine whether a new single-tablet HIV treatment combined with adherence support will be more effective than existing combination medications in achieving viral suppression.
Dr. Wong was a contributing author to the 2016 Updated Canadian HIV/Hepatitis C Adult Guidelines for Management and Treatment.
