Dr. Mbuagbaw is an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and a research methodologist and clinical epidemiologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. He is also part of various professional organizations, including the African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario, the Royal Society for Public Health, and the Cochrane Infectious Diseases Group.

He earned his medical degree at the FMBS University of Yaoundé in Cameroon and his Master of Public Health at The Hebrew University in Israel before completing a PhD in health research methodology (clinical epidemiology) at McMaster University.

Dr. Mbuagbaw’s research interests are mother and child health, HIV care, health systems research, and health research methodology with a focus on enhancing biostatistics and epidemiological techniques to improve health outcomes using pragmatic knowledge translation designs. His current work includes providing methodological and statistical support to researchers in various settings, and enhancing health outcomes using mobile technology.

He has contributed to two CTN research publications, one discussing the challenges and opportunities of conducting clinical trials in low resource setting, and the other discussing a systemic review to identify barriers, facilitators, and reported interventions to male participation in prevention programmes for mother to child transmission of HIV.
