Dr. Kathleen Deering is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and Research Scientist at the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity.

Dr. Deering received a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics at the University of British Columbia, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology at the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and a PhD in Epidemiology at the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia.

Her primary research interests are in community-based research with women living with HIV, gender-based violence, stigma, mental health, access to health services and methodological issues in sexual health research.
