In keeping with the Network’s new strategic plan, the CTN encourages researchers to develop their trial proposals with the help of teams of experts in one of four Core Research Areas: Vaccines and Immunotherapies, Prevention and Vulnerable Populations, Co-infections and Concurrent Diseases, and Clinical Management Science.
These national teams act as incubators for the best trial ideas.
Led by distinguished HIV clinical investigators, Core teams focus expertise from a range of areas (data methodology, statistics, trial administration and, notably, the views of people living with HIV) to expedite the metamorphosis of the best trial ideas into formal protocols.
And along the way, principal investigators get the help they need: impartial peer reviews; liaisons with potential clinical sites, drug manufacturers and federal regulatory agencies; development of informed consent forms; and advice about grant applications.
Protocol Submission
The CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network will accept trial proposals at any stage of development.
If you have an idea for a trial or draft protocol, you might wish to submit it to one of our Core Research Area teams for further development.
You can also submit pre-final or final protocols directly to the National Centre of the CTN for review by our Scientific Review Committee and Community Advisory Committee. For tentative dates of Committee meetings, please go to our events calendar. To confirm application deadlines, please contact ctninfo@hivnet.ubc.ca
